About Us I set up Your Colchester whilst on maternity leave with my first child in 2006. It had always been my intention to be a stay at home Mum when I had children, but it was still important to me to have a job aside from being Mum and to continue to use my skills and to have a career that I could fit around my family. Then one day, I found myself wanting to know what was on & what I could do around the town and so tried searching online. I found it was difficult to find up to date information online about what was going on and things to do in Colchester. So I had the idea of setting up a Community Website to provide a place where local residents and visitors alike could find the information they wanted. My motivation behind the website was, and still is to provide a comprehensive guide to the town, whether it be organised events, local services or finding a local business. In that time the website has grown and includes a wealth of local information and an expanding Business Directory. I live in Colchester with my partner and children aged 6 and 4 and our young West Highland Terrier.
